What is the New North Photography Contest?

New North, Inc., an economic development group for Northeast Wisconsin, is offering students over $4,000 in scholarships for submitting simple photos of the Northeast Wisconsin area.

The contest is available to students 18 years and older attending an accredited educational institute within the New North region (Outagamie, Winnebago, Calumet, Waupaca, Brown, Shawawno, Oconto, Marinette, Door, Kewaunee, Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, Florence, Menominee, and Waushara counties).

Photos must be submitted by April 1, 2010 at 11:59 p.m.

Support Entrepreneurial Climate & Small Business

The suggestions on the photo contest website for Support Entrepreneurial Climate & Small Business read:
- Emerging small business and their daily tasks
- Local entrepreneurs
- Young professionals

So to help you brainstorm, let's think about these questions:
- What photos would highlight the entrepreneurial climate here?
- Have you noticed the opening of a new local business?
- Can you capture young professionals in action?

Most likely many of you work at least once a week, meaning YOU are a young professional. Have a friend take a picture of you in your work attire, or have a co-worker snap a photo while you are in action at work. Maybe take a picture of someone in an office, at a meeting, on a computer, by a drawing board, shaking hands, at a service counter, or talking on the phone - you get the idea! Remember, this one's about business so but on that thinking cap...and get down to business!
